S3: Future of Teacher Education: Digital Transformation and Emerging Technologies

Introduction Teacher education is experiencing unprecedented transformation driven by artificial intelligence (AI), digital technologies, learning analytics, immersive environments, and evolving societal expectations. These developments are reshaping how teachers learn, teach, assess, create knowledge, and engage with learners in increasingly complex educational ecosystems. At the same time, emerging technologies raise important questions concerning educational epistemologies, pedagogical practices, professional identities, assessment approaches, ethics, equity, and sustainability. Teacher education institutions must therefore prepare future educators not only to use digital technologies effectively but also to critically evaluate their implications for teaching, learning, and knowledge production.
